Dental Bonding
Simply put, cosmetic bonding refers to covering the front surfaces of the teeth with a durable plastic material in order to change a tooth's shape and/or color. This technology also can be used to rebuild a broken tooth. Although experts agree bonding is not the most naturally esthetic choice for a smile redesign, it does offer a range of benefits. By artistically applying the tooth bonding material layer by layer, stained, gapped, chipped or misaligned teeth can be fixed to give you a reshaped and refreshed smile. The color of the bonding material must match your teeth to assure a natural look. This may require getting your teeth to a pleasing color first, through deep bleaching or other services. Comparable to porcelain veneers in theory and technique—although not as strong—bonding provides an economical option for improving your smile. It is an ideal procedure to use for children who have chipped front teeth, and it also is a viable alternative for adults who understand and accept the limitations.
